Celeste\u2019s expression hardened. \u201cYou should be careful what you accuse me of.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The sharpness in her tone made Elias look up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Suddenly, he heard more than an argument. He heard the cold impatience Lena had likely endured in private. He saw how quickly he had accepted Celeste\u2019s version of events because it had been the first\u2014and loudest\u2014one offered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
